The rise of JZX chassis getting slid has become more prevalent in the last year or so. Well to me anyways. I wasn't fortunate enough to grow up in the "import boom" era where Ireland was flooded with cars from Japan. With America's 25 year rule and Brexit kicking in it was harder to come across anything of interest, including the any form of JZX. With VRT prices being astronomical for once a 10 grand car, people began to take pride in them.
This was until the appropriately named Team Fool showed up to Mondello one sunny Saturday morning for the drift games bash. A group of friends who love nothing more than old school Greddy turbos, big power and misery like the rest of us.
In recent times, the group has just seem to exploded with god knows how many JZX lined up in the pit-lane of Mondello. It is truly fantastic to see the sear amount of them and to see them door to door all day long, I count myself extremely lucky to experience it.
My first time around mondello ever was with Shane in his JZX100 Cresta. T78 turbo, 600hp 1.5JZ, an experience that will stick with me forever. It's a car I would love to properly feature one day and hopefully I will be able. I'll never be able to thank Shane enough for the go that day. Shane is a wizard when it comes to JZ's and R154's, having built and rebuilt many in his time.
Over the winter, some of the group have refreshed their engines chasing more power. With these builds not being cheap, you do have to appreciate what the team get up too. I'm looking forward to what 2026 has in store for Team Fool. As always thanks for reading this far // Noah
