Intro
represent what it represents
Back in 2020, when Covid hit and we were all stuck at home I picked up a camera for the first time. Photography was always an unknown fascination with me. My father and uncle always were taking photos and always had a camera with them no matter what event we were going too. I grew up reading magazines too and I always lusted at the thought of writing for one. That opportunity came 2022 when I did a show report on DB on the Quay for Retro Classics Magazine. It was so cool to see my own work in print and on selves. I got the opportunity to document different shows and events around the country and it was such a cool buzz to see my name next to the "words and photos". But as with most print media nowadays, Retro Classics went into liquidation last year and I found myself with an itch that I couldn't scratch and that was to continue to write about shows and features but in a different way other than instagram. I felt like instagram wasn't doing enough to showcase what this country has to offer in terms of builds, shows, people and sheds.'
I was extremely fortunate in forth year of secondary school do my work experience with no other then Simon Deane of Deane Motors in Dublin. I started working for him the week he got handed the keys for the memory that is The Engine Block. What a fantastic opportunity that was, it was here Roadworks became what it is now. Roadworks meets began, supported by Simon and they were fantastic. I met a lot my friends and new people with those events and The Engine Block in general.
So what is Roadworks? Roadworks is my way of showing what Ireland has to offer in terms of car culture. I count myself very lucky that I'm a position to document what my friends own, the shows, track days and spins that are organised and my view of it all. I am surrounded by so many fantastic people that have allowed me to photograph their pride and joy or who have traveled up to Dublin/Wicklow for my meets or spins. I will always be forever thankful for those who have supported what I've done and what I'm trying to do, for all the people I've met along the way and the people who have stuck around to see this silly little photography turn into what it has. I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for and for all the people I'm yet to meet. As is always, thank you for reading this far // Noah
